How can I correct a mistake? I entered a previous NCAAF that I had bet $22 to win $20. It was entered into the bottom as a $20 bet with a and calculated an incorrecy $win amount; can't seem to be able to delete it once it's graded / processed?
Thanks for this tool!
I haven't added the following warning: "Before you commit the graded bet, make sure everything is correct!" I realize that correcting a bet should be a common task, even after grading. With this particular Excel sheet, it's rather tricky.
To remove the bet, you are right, it's a bit difficult, but it can be done. It is a bit tricky, so follow these instructions:
(If bet is the LAST bet on the bottom grid)
1. Select Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet
2. Note the row number of the last bet.
3. Note the colors of the cells in the last row that contains the bet data in the grid, the colors are either green or yellow.
4. Do NOT erase anything directly in the green cells, even if they are blank.
5. Erase data in the following cells: Event Date, Transaction, Units, Unit Amount, Bet Amount, Venue, Team / Teams Selected, Line, Odds (Amer), Odds (Dec), Result, Amount Won/Lost
6. Note that data in the green cells may disappear in some circumstances when you remove some data in the yellow cells. This is supposed to happen.
7. You are done deleting the record.
(If the bet to erase is NOT the last bet in the grid
1. Select Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet
2. Note the row number of the bet you wish to remove.
3. Note the colors of the cells in that particular row that contains the bet data in the grid, the colors are either green or yellow.
4. Do NOT erase anything directly in the green cells, even if they are blank.
5. Erase data in the following cells in the row that contains the bet to delete: Event Date, Transaction, Units, Unit Amount, Bet Amount, Venue, Team / Teams Selected, Line, Odds (Amer), Odds (Dec), Result, Amount Won/Lost
6. Note that data in the green cells may disappear in some circumstances when you remove some data in the yellow cells. This is supposed to happen.
7. Now it gets really tricky. You will be making TWO cut/paste operations.
8. Click the cell in the column "Event Date" on the first remaining row of bets that are valid, and drag the mouse to the last remaining row of data on "Transaction" (one column to the right). Once the selection is made, right click and select "Cut".
9. Select the now-blank cell on Event Date. It should be the cell above the cell of the data selected.
10. Paste the selection into the cell. The data should effectively move up one row.
11. Click the cell in the column "Units" on the first remaining row of bets that are valid, and drag the mouse to the last remaining row of data on "Amount Won/Lost" (nine columns to the right). Once the selection is made, right click and select "Cut".
12. Select the now-blank cell on Units. It should be the cell above the cell of the data selected.
13. Paste the selection into the cell. The data should effectively move up one row.
Once the data is deleted (and adjusted), save the file. Once the file is saved, close it, and reopen it. The sheet will be ready to go again. Re-enter the bet the way you want to this time.
Note: there is no specific "Bet x amount to win y amount" betting option as the regimen is not meant to perform that function specifically. The only way to bet like this is to make sure you know beforehand the proper fraction, which have to be entered in American odds (in this case, -110). I will see if I can work a specific case in the next version.
QUEEN OF HEARTS, here is your issue:
Another issue that I am having is saving my work. I keep getting a read only file error message.
Close the file. Right click the icon, select "Properties". Look at the bottom of the General Tab in Attributes. Uncheck the box called "Read Only". Everything should be ready to go now.
This happens on some systems when they remove the file from a zip file. On some operating systems, files open as read only for security reasons, so I'll see if I can figure out a way to counteract that potential problem. In the meantime, I will include the "Read Only" check in the instructions from now on. Thanks.
I will make changes to the application so that errors can be removed through a more automated process. Give me two days on this.
GENERAL QUESTION: As a side note, is there a way I can make unlimited editing changes in this thread only? That is, to remove the 7-minute editing limit? Thanks.
